Topiary is an art form of decorating the landscape. The word "topiary" used to mean just clipping the foliage and twigs of trees in order to develop and maintain clearly defined shapes. But nowadays this word has a wider meaning.
Today the word "topiary" means a certain plant, as well as a small architectural form - sculpture in the form of an animal, geometric figure or the whole composition.
